Digital Theremin

A theremin you can edit like MIDI.
The first theremin whose performances can be recorded and edited like any other MIDI instrument.
Two ultrasonic sensors replace the antennas, one for pitch and one for expression. The synth and its interface are built in Max/MSP, with an engine that emulates the tone of a conventional theremin.
The expression is reversed: on a conventional theremin the sound gets louder as your hand moves away from the volume antenna; here it gets quieter, so the instrument falls silent when you step away from it.
